SS Peter & Paul’s Prayer Circle

This is a central and powerful aspect of our parish ministry. Please complete the request form to be found in the box at the notice board as you approach the Lady Chapel on the left hand side of church and place it in the request box. The intention remains for 6 months. Thank you to all who help in this and who offer prayers.
Our Patron Saints
Saint Peter
Saint Peter was one of the twelve Apostles chosen by Jesus. Originally a fisherman named Simon, he was called by Jesus to leave his nets and become a “fisher of men.” Jesus gave him the name Peter, meaning “rock”, and entrusted him with a special responsibility for leading the Church.
Peter was a man of great faith, but he also made mistakes, famously denying Jesus three times before the Crucifixion. After the Resurrection, Jesus forgave Peter and called him to care for His followers.
Peter became a courageous leader of the early Church and is recognised as the first Pope. According to tradition, he was martyred in Rome during the persecution of Christians under Emperor Nero.
Saint Peter reminds us that God does not call perfect people, but ordinary people who are willing to follow Him.
Saint Paul
Saint Paul, originally known as Saul, was born in Tarsus and was initially a fierce opponent of Christianity. His life changed dramatically when he encountered the risen Jesus on the road to Damascus.
Following his conversion, Paul became one of the greatest missionaries of the early Church, travelling throughout the Roman world to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. He established Christian communities and wrote letters encouraging them in their faith. Many of these letters form an important part of the New Testament.
Paul faced imprisonment, persecution and many hardships because of his faith. According to tradition, he was martyred in Rome during the reign of Emperor Nero.
Saint Paul reminds us that no one is beyond God’s love and that it is never too late for our lives to change.
Our Parish Patrons
Although Peter and Paul came from very different backgrounds, both dedicated their lives to sharing the Gospel and building the Church. Peter represents the strength and unity of the Church, while Paul reminds us of its mission to bring Christ’s love to the whole world.
The Church celebrates their joint solemnity on 29th June, honouring their faith, courage and witness to Jesus Christ.
As the patron saints of our parish, Peter and Paul inspire us to be a welcoming community, growing together in faith and sharing God’s love through our words and actions.
Saint Peter and Saint Paul, pray for us.
